Life is busy. Regardless of your profession. Saying your “Busy” has become a status symbol which takes aways from our abilities to pause, reflect, and gain clarity.
I’m taking some much needed time (in bed mind you) to reflect on the past several years, as I’ve been caught up in the whirlwind of work and schedules. This reflection doesn’t mean I’m dwelling on the past, but rather, I’m seeking inspiration for the future.
It’s imperative that we make the time to separate ourselves from work to enjoy our friends, family, and significant others. It’s a constant struggle to make the time but it’s important. Afterall, these people give me strength, encouragement, and make me laugh. A computer screen and a pay check can’t replace this.
Never stop learning, exploring, and looking beyond the pines. This old adage is of course a cliche but is so important. It keeps our minds sharp.
Over the past 5 years I’ve been dedicated to learning and teaching all things data viz. I’m humbled by how much more I need to learn. I owe a lot of this passion to three days in Minneapolis attending Eyeo. I’m now scheduled to attend Information+ in Vancouver and I can’t wait!
So, there you have it, friends and curiosity are the key to (my) happiness. And I suppose exercise and eating healthy. 😉
Balance comes in all shapes and sizes and the above two things is where I find my zen.
